I agree with Azhthar's review. You have a very unique sound and lots of creativity. You managed to keep my interest for all 6:23 with this song, great job

ZipZipper responds:

The whole duration? Yay.

This sounds great, I like all the stuff you've uploaded so far. I'm a Dream Theater fan as well so I'm gonna have to add you to my favorites. I look forward to your next uploads!

guilhermevl1 responds:

Thank you so much. Soon I'll be posting new progressive songs

I really like your stuff, it's very unique. Great composition

ZipZipper responds:

Thanks! You're not so bad yourself!

Pretty nice. This has an interesting sound for the few instruments you used, the low mids in the strings sounds a little harsh though. I'd like to hear this when it's finished

SkelaNG responds:

Thank you! Yeh I'm trying to be a little minimal with what I'm doing with this track, I want as much life in each instrument as I can get. Everything is a bit too harsh right now, I'll fix that when comes time.

Nice work, I really like the melodies in this. The mix of realistic sounds and chiptune sounds pretty good too

Deemo-R responds:

Thanks man! I think these are probably some of the better melodies I've used, too. Chiptune sounds work surprisingly well with a ton of stuff! They have a very interesting variety of timbres.

Nice work, this actually does remind me of some SNES music with that reverb/delay effect, particularly Illusion of Gaia.

BenTibbetts responds:

Thanks very much. I never played that one, but I'm glad this music sounds somewhat authentic.

I like the orchestration, you definitely achieved the Nightmare Before Christmas vibe.
I think you've already reached the point where you mixing is never bad, I can't recall any mixes of yours that seemed to be missing something. You're like me though, you want some more polish on your mixes. If you need some more research material, you could check out The Mixing Engineer's Handbook by Bobby Owsinski. I haven't finished it yet, but I've learned quite a bit already. It covers pretty much everything.

Deemo-R responds:

Well, there are a lot of mixes of mine that you haven't heard, hehe... ;)

I definitely would love some polish on my stuff, you're totally right! I'm also looking to bring this information with me as I progress into some new areas I've been really itching to explore! I actually have The Mixing Engineer's Handbook, it just came in a couple of days ago! It's been really helpful alongside the course I'm going through and all the supplementary online information I've been reading. I've also got Owsinski's "Recording Engineer's Handbook" and have his "Mastering Engineer's Handbook" wishlisted... just in case. ;P

Thanks so much for reviewing again, my friend!

Great job, nice use of the samples.
The only problem I have with this is the melody that starts at :58 is a little too quiet. To me, that sounds like it could've been a powerful section of the song, especially with the brass sound starting at 1:21. That's assuming that you weren't going for some kind of ambient feel though. Other than that, I really like this song

HellboundDochi responds:

Thanks for the feedback! I managed to get the edit done just in time. :)

I really like this, nice and mellow. The instrument at 1:17 reminded me of the Green Garden song from Bomberman 64

VideoGameManiac responds:

Thanks! I have been getting reminded about Bomberman alot lately, I really want to play the SNES ones again now xd

Listening to this again and I dunno why but it makes me think of Donkey Kong Country and Metroid Prime music lol. I think its the percussion reminding me of Metroid Prime
I like the variety in atmospheric sounds, it keeps it interesting

Deemo-R responds:

I think I understand what you're hearing when you mention the percussion being like something from Prime. I can't describe the sound qualities myself, but I hear a few similarities in some of the sounds. The marimba/kalimba duo really does help lend to that deep African-jungle feeling that sometimes comes out of DKC, and I think that's what holds the theme through overall. I'm glad the atmospheric additions did enough evolving throughout to keep it from growing too tiresome for you :)

Thanks for listening again, man!
